The curriculum focuses on developing the dog and handler as a team while creating a dog who is confident, thoughtful, and in better control of his emotional state and behavior at home and away.
Build controlled walking, attention, and polite movement so you can move through the world with your dog.
Teach practical cooperation for grooming, veterinary care, handling, and basic health checks.
Develop patience, steadiness, and the ability to remain in position while life continues around the dog.
Build a dog who understands that coming when called matters, even when distractions are present.
Improve basic manners for home, public spaces, greetings, movement, and everyday life.
Move beyond commands and begin building obedience that can hold up around real-world distractions.
This course requires owner effort. Class gives you instruction, direction, feedback, and structure. The progress comes from meaningful practice between classes.
There are no free rides to a well-trained dog. Owners who practice consistently, follow the plan, and take the work seriously get the best results.
Owners learn how timing, leash handling, body language, and consistency affect the dog.
Dogs learn to work through distraction, arousal, pressure, and environmental changes.
Training does not happen by accident. Owners must practice, follow through, and participate in the process.

- Only one adult handler is allowed on the training floor per dog.
- Handlers must be at least 18 years old unless approved.
- Human-aggressive dogs must contact us before registering.
- Dogs and handlers should be reasonably fit and able to participate.
Novice Obedience is designed for owners who want more than commands their dog only follows when it is convenient. The goal is reliable basic obedience: a dog who can be calmer, clearer, more responsible, and more capable in everyday life.
